The Long-Term Impacts of LDRD Investments
The LDRD program is an investment in the Nation’s future, ensuring mission support that is often realized after many years. Often, research and development does not advance on a short timescale. The transition of a scientific accomplishment to a developed mission capability can take years. Below are examples of LDRD investments that have grown into larger investments or capabilities over a course of years or decades. These slides represent impact of the LDRD and SDRD programs at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Nevada National Security Sites, and Sandia National Laboratories.
